My bff works at Walmart, and nearly every day she comes home with outrageous stories. Not like The People of Walmart, where people look funny, but about some of the even more amazing things that they do.
If I use names, I will change them, but other than that, these stories are true. Here is one of my favs:
The Black Friday Spitter
Ok, so it was Black Friday and people were lined up waiting for an item in electronics. The truck it was on hadn’t arrived yet, even though it was supposed to have been there before the sale started.
A manager called the delivery truck to see what the holdup was. They were told that there was a problem and it wouldn’t get there until the next day.
So the co-manager started passing out rain checks to the people who were waiting, so that they would be the ones to get the item when it arrived. Many were disappointed, even grousing about it, but one woman actually SPIT on the co-manager as she handed her a rain check!!
I only wish I had been standing next to her.
The co-manager couldn’t respond like I would have , or she could have been fired. She kept her cool and remained very professional. She continued down the line passing out the rain checks.
At the end of the line, she turned and headed back and passed that “lady” again. The woman stepped out as the co-manager walked by and said, “I’ve got to compliment you. You were very professional in the way you handled that.”
The co-manager said, quietly and firmly, “I don’t need compliments from someone like you.”
I thought that was great, it really put that bi-atch in her place in a very professional way.
If it had been me, I probably would have been fired. I’m pretty sure I would have decked her.
